Shipping & Returns

Shipping Policy

Ordering Info

 

  • We do not offer international shipping.

  • Please note we only ship once payment is received and cleared

  • We use The Courier Guy, Pudo Lockers or Postnet for delivery in South Africa.

  • For custom orders we will provide you with a shipping quote.

  • It takes approximately 2 – 5 working days to most destinations. 

 

Please note in the rainy season it might take a day or two longer, because we need to dry the plants / roots to prevent rotting in transit.


Plant sizes are indicated in each category or in the description of the products
Product pictures are examples of the plants you will receive and may not be the actual plants


Colours of plants can change according to the season or day length

Plants are shipped nationwide in South Africa using a door to door courier.

 

Plants are shipped potted in a special soil mix unless otherwise indicated. Local customers also have the option of curbside pickup.

 

We ship on Mondays and Tuesdays in an attempt to avoid situations where packages may sit in prolonged storage over a weekend.

 

During times of the year with higher order volume, it may take slightly longer, but no more than an extra 1-2 business days.

We cannot be held responsible for shipment delays made by the carrier.

 

Customers must provide a delivery address which receives Courier Guy packages. Please note that they are unable to deliver to PO boxes. If there are failed attempts by the shipping carrier to deliver the package, it is the customer's responsibility to contact them to make delivery arrangements within 2 days of the failed attempt. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee live arrival.

All shipments are regarded as delivered when indicated as delivered by the carrier's tracking system. Delivery issues beyond this will need to be brought as a claim with the carrier.

All plants are shipped carefully packaged in order to protect them through the transit.

​

If a product arrives damaged with evidence that the packaging was damaged, we require the customer to contact us immediately and send photograph evidence of how it was received in order for us to consider a reshipment or replacement. Failure to do this may result in a waiver of our guarantees.

​

Desert In Bloom reserves the right to upgrade shipping service at our discretion. We may reach out to the customer concerning alternate shipping options if additional funds are required for a recommended shipping service.

Return & Exchange Policy

Live Arrival Guarantee

​

All plants are guaranteed to arrive alive and healthy.  This means that the plant will not be displaying any distress beyond what would be expected due to being shipped.

 

Some brown leaves and minor cosmetic damage to foliage can happen in the shipping process and will not have any long-term impact on plant health.  Some older roots may show signs of decay but will be regarded as a natural part of a healthy plant's senescence if healthy new roots are present.

​

Plants are living things and each variety has an acceptable temperature range which we can guarantee live arrival.  If temperatures are outside of this range, shipments can be held or shipped with weather protective packaging.

​

If there are any plant health issues upon arrival, please contact us at info@desertinbloom.co.za within 48 hours of receipt of the plant and provide photos. We’ll quickly address any issues.

​

If the plant arrives in an acceptable condition, all further care is the responsibility of the purchaser and no replacement is offered once the plant arrives alive.

​

The live arrival guarantee may be voided in instances where the customer fails to provide a  deliverable address, fails to collect packages within a timely manner or does not facilitate carrier inspection of damaged packaging.  Details are provided in our Shipping Policies.

Plant Sizing Guidelines and Photo Representation

​

We strive to accurately represent the size, quality and characteristics of all plants our customers will receive.

​

For “Plant ID” product listings, we provide photos of the exact plant you will receive.   Photos are generally taken recently.  It’s possible the plant may have grown and will be larger than the photo.  The older leaves of the plant may have also experienced normal levels of natural senescence.

​

We also include photos that are representative of the size, quality and characteristics of the plants for sale.

​

Please note there may also be some mixed listings which may have drop down menu options for both “Plant ID” and “Size” variant plants.  The above descriptions for each respective type of product listing apply.

​

Because plants are living things that are constantly growing, there may be some variation among available plants. We try to include photos of the range of possible variants.  If there are specific characteristics you are looking for, please make a request at checkout under the "Special Instructions for seller" section in your cart before checkout and we will do our best to accommodate.

Returns

​

We do not accept returns of healthy plants. If a plant arrives dead or in unacceptable condition, we will send a replacement plant of similar value.  Please email us with photos and written description of the damage within 48 hours of the plant's arrival to receive a replacement.  Please contact us at info@fuzzyroots.co.za for further information.  We may request the damaged plant to be returned and a pre-paid return label will be provided.

Any plants being returned must be shipped within 1 business day of the return label being issued.  The return shipment date will be confirmed via tracking or an acceptance receipt issued from the carrier.

​

If you feel that you have received the wrong product, please contact us  within 48 hours of receiving the product.

​

Refunds and Cancellations

​

Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of purchase will be offered a refund.  Requests made after 24 hours will be offered store credit.

​

Future variegation can not be guaranteed, most variegated plants are chimeric meaning the variegation is unstable but we encourage new plant owners to research the plant they are purchasing and to accept the associated risks.

​

We will always offer our services for advice and care but the sole responsibility lies with the purchaser once received. If you receive a plant with the incorrect ID we will offer a credit or refund on the safe return of the plant into our care.
